Baritone Patrick Newell received his Doctorate in Vocal Performance at Indiana University where he has had the opportunity to appear in a wide variety of opera roles with the Indiana University Opera Theater. While at Indiana he studied with Dale Moore and Dr. James McDonald. Dr. Newell was an apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera, and has sung on the stages of the Cedar Rapids Opera, the Dorian Opera Theater, the Cincinnati Opera and at the premier performance of the Asheville Lyric Opera. He has appeared in oratorio and recital in the mid-West and southeast, including a performance in the title role of Elijah under the baton of Louis Lane with the Wooster Choral Union. In Musical Theatre, he has performed the roles "Sweeney Todd" and "Miles Gloriosus" with CalRep Theater and has been a Vocal Coach with the Jekyll Island Musical Theatre Festival. Currently an Assistant Professor in Music at Eastern Kentucky University, he has also taught at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Clayton College and State University in Atlanta, Brevard College in North Carolina and Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
